Black Panther Party Liberation Schools
Black Panther Party — Survival Programs as Political Education
"We don't want to just feed the children. We want to revolutionize their minds so that they can go forth and build a new world."
Education
This directly embodies Article IV – The Paradise Commons and Article II – The Right to a Dignified Life. The Panthers understood that meeting immediate material needs (food, healthcare, clothing) was inseparable from building political consciousness.
Their Liberation Schools taught Black history, political theory, and practical skills. Our own Paradise Commons, with free or affordable childcare, community kitchens, and tool-lending libraries are a modern extension of the Panther survival programs.
They prefigure the world we want while organizing to make it law.
Connection to Our Charter
This resource directly informs Article IV's vision of community-owned resources and Article II's commitment to dignified life for all. The Black Panther Party's survival programs demonstrate how meeting material needs and building political consciousness are not separate tasks, but one unified struggle for liberation.
